Op de PlayStation 3 is het mogelijk om HD remakes van PlayStation 2 games te spelen en wellicht dat Sony deze traditie voortzet op de PlayStation 4 door klassieke PlayStation 3 games opnieuw aan te gaan bieden.
Wel is het zo dat de PlayStation 4 qua architectuur behoorlijk anders is, wat suggereert dat PS3 games een forse behandeling moeten ondergaan om überhaupt te kunnen draaien op de nieuwe console. Tenzij Sony de PS4 van emulatiesoftware voorziet uiteraard.
Toch is het wel mogelijk om PS3 games op de PS4 te draaien, Eurogamer vroeg Sony Santa Monica hoe moeilijk het is om titels als God of War III en God of War: Ascension naar de PS4 te brengen. Dit naar aanleiding van een uitgebreid artikel over hoe Sony Santa Monica de PS3 heeft ‘gemastered’
“It could be done. The PS4 hardware is such a big leap forward in terms of graphics power compared to the PS3 that we probably wouldn’t need to go that far. Most if not all of the SPU techniques we developed and used on PS3 were there to reduce the RSX workload. With the PS4 GPU we probably wouldn’t need those techniques.”

Ik zou graag de 2 GOW collections in de GOW3/A engine zien.
dit is heel goed nieuws. dit betekent dus dat ze nu makkelijk games van de ps3 naar de ps4 kunnen poorten alleen met nog betere graphics. wie weet GTA V?
Liever gewoon nieuwe games. En ik ben toch geen fan GTA 😮
