Het Chinese Tencent doet maar weer eens waar ze het beste in zijn: andere studio’s overkopen. Ditmaal aan de beurt: de Poolse ontwikkelaar en uitgever 1C Entertainment, waarschijnlijk het meest bekend van de Men of War games. Deze deal werd vorig jaar in november bereikt en wordt nu officieel uitgevoerd, waardoor Tencent alle aandelen overneemt van 1C Entertainment en alle dochterondernemingen.
We weten niet precies hoeveel geld Tencent hiervoor heeft neergelegd, maar hoogstwaarschijnlijk zal dit meer dan ’tien cent’ zijn geweest. Tencent is bovendien van plan om het ‘1C’ label te laten vallen en binnenkort te vervangen door een andere naam.
Tomasz Nieszporski van 1C Entertainment aan het woord:

Ook Tencent zelf is blij met de overname, aldus Li Shen:
“We couldn’t be more pleased to work with the talented team at 1C Entertainment, supporting them as they embark on a new phase of growth.”
