Polyphony Digital werkt met diverse autofabrikanten samen om nieuwe conceptauto’s te ontwikkelen. Deze verschijnen niet in het echt, maar worden wel gedigitaliseerd voor Gran Turismo 7. Nu heeft de ontwikkelaar samen met Chevrolet naar een nieuw model gekeken en het resultaat is de Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo Concept.
Deze auto kan je in de trailer hieronder in volle glorie aanschouwen en zal binnenkort aan de racegame toegevoegd worden. Wanneer precies is nog niet bekend, maar gezien de laatste update op 23 juli verscheen, verwachten we dat de volgende update ergens deze week zal verschijnen.
The aerodynamics of this car started with the CX design and amped up the aggression, with more prominent active aerofeatures and a lower ride height for downforce and grip. CX.R employs light-weight materials, including carbon fibre, to keep total mass as low as possible.
It is powered by a hybrid system utilising two electric motors up front and one motor in the rear, combined with a compact high revving V8 twin turbocharged engine (using E Fuel). This unit ensures driving performance and range required in endurance racing, plus incorporates a thrilling sound.
The interior is also specialised for circuit use, with the seat shaped to support the driver’s head and neck when exposed to strong horizontal G’s in the corners. The steering wheel has strategically placed physical buttons and knobs so that they can be used intuitively even while wearing racing gloves.
And of course the yellow and black colouring of the Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo Concept carries the tradition of Corvettes in GT car racing in the last 25 years.
