Because they wanted to save money on the bluray unit, sony swapped the laser from the early 60GB units to low costs lasers (which are defective) I assume it is also the reason why new units wont read SACDs (although I am not entirely sure about that)

As you can see on the official playstation forums, complains of people having drives not recognising their discs anymore are adding up, and I believe it is only a beginning before much more units starts to “defect”.

Sony Computer Entertaiment is of course well aware of this problem although it wont acknowledge it publically.

    Het word vergeleken met een RROD, maar gezien het feit dat het veeeel minder bekend is denk ik toch dat het wel minder gebeurt?

    Het is wel weer typisch, ik geloof graag dat ze bij die 40gb een goedkopere bluray drive hebben gebruikt en dat’ie dan klote blijkt te zijn… 😡

    Sony, sony, sony.. Test je spul toch is goed! :p

    3% Van de PS3’s gt toch mr kapot, so who cares?? Bij de XBOX 360 is ’t 16% dacht ik…:p

    nee is onder de 1% dacht teminste dat had ik eerst gelezen kan nu misschien dat het meer is geworden doordat ze nu ouder zijn en er misschien goedkopere produkten zijn gebruikt die minder zijn
